The Pittsburgh Steelers Future

In the 2010 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers competed in the Superbowl against the Green Bay Packers. Steeler’s quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played a sloppy game and the Packers came away with the win, and title of 2010 Super Bowl champions. This Steeler’s loss showed me a lot about the team, especially the quarterback. Ben Roethlisberger is an extremely overrated player at this point in his career.

His success has only been achieved because of the great talented players that are on his team. He throws many interceptions and does not make good decisions when under pressure. I would definitely expect to see a lot more out of a player with his experience. In my opinion, if the Steelers are smart they will not keep Roethlisberger around for many more years. They should use him to get a great trade, either for draft picks or young defensive players which they desperately need.

The main problem with the Steelers is their QB. They do have strength at most other positions, and the positions which are weak are getting stronger. The Steelers may have success in the future, but as it is most of the time, the success will not be due to Ben Roethlisberger.

Is Tim Tebow the Right QB for the Broncos?

There have been rumors circulating in the NFL about whether or not Tim Tebow is the right QB for the Broncos, and whether or not they can build up their franchise around him or not.

Let me say now that they can, Tebow is a great young quarterback with a high potential for success. I see him as a young Steve McNair, former NFL QB. Although there have been concerns about whether he scrambles too much in the pocket, but I believe that he can be a great player even if he is predominantly a runner.

My only concern about this young player is the consistency of his arm in terms of accuracy. He forces too many risky throws, and while he can make some of them because of his strong arm, most he cannot, and that will lead to turnovers for the team. However, Michael Vick had a similar problem early in his career and look at how he has led both the Falcons and the Eagles successfully. Look for Tebow to have some problems in 2011, but to do a good enough job to earn him a job as the Broncos franchise QB.

Super Bowl: Steelers vs. Packers-Who will Win?

On Sunday, February 6, the biggest game in America will take place in Cowboys Stadium. The Super Bowl. The playoffs are over and the Steelers and Packers will go head-to-head in a battle for the Lombardi Trophy, the most coveted trophy in the NFL. Now the big question is, who will win the game? Well, I thought about the upcoming match-up long and hard and I have finally decided which team is most likely to come out as the champion. My pick is the Green Bay Packers. This was definitely a hard decision for me to make, because both teams have great players and both teams are great at winning football games. The reason I chose the Packers is because I believe they have more talent spread all over the field. First let’s talk about the QB’s. Aaron Rodgers(Packers) vs Ben Roethlisberger(Steelers). Out of both of these players I think that Aaron Rodgers is the better QB. Although Big Ben already has two Super Bowl rings, I don’t think that he has the great consistent play making that Rodgers has shown throughout this years playoffs and much of his career as a starter. Another factor that goes into the Packers beating the Steelers is their wide receivers. With an already great QB, the Packers will only add to their winning potential with several talented receivers. Troy Polamalu is a a great safety, but he cannot be the defense by himself. The Steelers slower defensive backs will not be able to thoroughly shut down Aaron Rodgers receiving corps, so expect him to take advantage of the mismatches that we will see throughout the game. In the running game it is pretty evenly matched on both sides, but again the Packers have a slight advantage. They can run their fullback John Kuhn, and their recently discover talent at running back, rookie James Starks. Also, if the Steelers defense leaves any room for Rodgers to run, he can turn it into a big gain. The Steelers will put up a fight though, so expect a high scoring game with both teams possibly getting more than twenty points. I am sure, however, that the Packers will be the winners of Super Bowl XLV.

My AFC Superbowl Predictions

Well, the playoffs are coming up in the NFL, and we all know that after the playoffs comes the Pro Bowl and after the Pro Bowl comes the Superbowl.

In this blog post I will give my predictions for this years AFC Superbowl contenstant.

I have been thinking about two teams that, I believe, have a good chance of making the big dance.

The first team is the Steelers. The quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, and wide receiver Mike Wallace are unstoppable together. The Steelers defense is also doing well, and right now they are the top ranked team in the AFC north division. I believe they have all of the skill plus more needed to go to and possibly win the Superbowl.

My second AFC team is the Chiefs. The Chiefs haven’t won that many games, only eight out of fourteen, but they have a great running back and a decent quarterback. Jamaal Charles is a fast running back and makes things happen for his team. If the Chiefs keep getting things done on offense and if their defense continues to get better we just might see them on Sunday night in the Superbowl.

Michael Vick’s Second Act – 8 – 4 Eagles

This NFL season Michael Vick has stepped up and has become a leader for the Eagles, just two years after being released from prison. He is on the road to success and is putting the Eagles in prime position to be playoff contenders.

I thought that prison time would be the end of Vick’s career, clearly his strong showing, with an 8 – 4 record of the Eagles has proven me wrong. Let’s hope his in game success is a reflection of his future off game success.

Vikings vs. Saints: NFL Opener

On Thursday night, the Minnesota Vikings traveled to New Orleans and took on the Saints, the defending Superbowl champions. In the tough battle between the two teams, the Saints managed to beat the Vikings fourteen to nine. The Saints one because they were able to get several solid passing drives going, and their defense kept Vikings QB Brett Farve in check. I think that the Vikings could have one if they would have thrown more on first down, and run more on second down. Brett Favre didn’t look to good throwing the ball. He looked shaky and unsure of his passes. In this NFL opener, the Vikings offense did not play like a team that would make the playoffs. If this is how the Vikings play for the rest of the season we definetly won’t see them in the playoffs, much less the Superbowl.

2010 Predictions for the NFC

Well it is traing camp now for NFL teams and the season is right around the corner. In this post I would like to talk about which teams in the NFC may come out on top during the season. At first glance it seems as if the Saints may be the conference champions this year. However, although the Saints are a good team with a great quarterback, I doubt that they will win the conference. I expect that it will be won by the Green Bay Packers, or their rival, the Minnesota Vikings. With Brett Farve on the roster at quarterback, and Adrian Peterson at running back, the Vikings should win the conference. And last but not least, if the Vikings, Packers, or Saints do not win the championship, expect the Cardinals to win. Although they have don’t have the best quarterback, their wide receivers and team chemistry gives them a good chace to win the conference. Maybe even the Super Bowl

Top Rookie QB

In the 2010 NFL draft, 4 QB’s were high prospects to be drafted early, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Jimmy Clausen, snd Colt McCoy. I believe that the most productive young QB will be the Rams Sam Bradford. First of all, by being the first player drafet in the draft, Bradford has the most likely chance of starting from game one than any other rookie QB. Also he will have two skillful players to throw to, WR Donnie Avery and RB Steven Jackson. The most important factor however is, wil he stay healthy. If not, Tebow, drafted by the Broncos will definetly be the top rookie QB. Mainly because of his durabiliy.
